POSITION TYPE

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Production & Compliance Manager to oversee daily operations within our USDA-inspected facility. This position combines production leadership, food safety management, inventory control, wholesale fulfillment, and team supervision.

The ideal candidate possesses strong butchery and food production skills, understands USDA food safety requirements, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Management

• Manage day-to-day production operations
• Coordinate weekly production schedules
• Oversee fabrication of pork primals and retail cuts
• Lead production of fresh sausage and value-added products
• Monitor yields and production efficiency
• Train and supervise production staff
Food Safety & Compliance
• Maintain HACCP plans, SOPs, SSOPs, and GMP programs
• Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections
• Manage temperature monitoring and food safety records
• Coordinate environmental and product testing programs
• Interface professionally with USDA inspectors
• Review labels and ensure regulatory compliance
 Inventory & Procurement
• Manage ingredient, packaging, and supply inventories
• Coordinate purchasing and receiving
• Track production inputs and finished goods
• Maintain inventory systems and production records
 Wholesale & Fulfillment
• Coordinate wholesale order fulfillment
• Manage product packaging and labeling
• Ensure accurate order preparation and shipment
• Support customer and distributor relationships

Required QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years food production, butchery, or meat processing experience
• Strong knife skills and fabrication experience
• Experience managing food safety systems
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Reliable transportation

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS
• HACCP certification
• USDA-inspected processing experience
• Food Safety certification ( ie: Servsafe, or similar )
• Experience with inventory management systems
• Experience training staff
• Knowledge of charcuterie, sausage production, and whole-animal utilization

COMPENSATION

POSITION SUMMARY
This role is ideal for someone interested in butchery, culinary arts, farming, food production, fermentation, or local food systems. No formal butchery experience is required. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual eager to learn specialized skills in a professional production environment.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Whole-animal butchery and meat fabrication
• Sausage making, charcuterie, and curing
• USDA food processing and HACCP systems
• Inventory management and wholesale fulfillment
• Production planning and small food business operations

 Required QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in refrigerated environments
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly

• Wholesale and farmers market order preparation
• Equipment cleaning, maintenance, and facility sanitation

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a physically active position involving standing, lifting, bending, repetitive tasks, and working in refrigerated production environments.

MARKETEER(S)

Looking for customer-facing driver(s) and salespersons to work one or more of our Farmers’ Market booths and / or local special events and pop-ups.

Training provided.

Potential to grow and additional sales duties, more hours may be available, for the right candidate

MUST WORK WEEKENDS!

Work as a key salesperson at farmers' markets:

  • PROVIDE customer service, USING A POS system

  • Ensure MARKET BOOTH operateS smoothly, maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment maintenance

  • Drive company vehicles to and from market locations (for eligible candidates).

  • Set up, operate, and break down market booths, including handling tents, PACKED COOLERS, tables, signage, and POS systems. REPORTING ISSUES TO MANAGEMENT IN REAL TIME TO ASSURE PROPERLY FUNCTIONING MARKET BOOTH.

  • Grill and serve SAMPLES at markets.

DESIRED SKILLS / QUALITIES FOR MARKETEER POSITION(S):

  • sales experience and / or experience with square pos system ( or similar )

  • passion for local food, farming and the desire to learn more

  • ability to problem solve under pressure or adverse conditions in a calm, collected manner.

Reliable transportation or commuting plan is required. WE ARE A VERY SMALL TEAM AND RELAY ON EVERY MEMBER TO BE ON TIME FOR EVERY SHIFT.
